This document sets out the refund and cancellation conditions for the SOC 2 Application Pentest (the “Service”) provided by Layer8 Co., Ltd. (“Layer8”).

1. What payment means
Payment places an order; it does not commit Layer8 to carrying out an assessment. After payment, Layer8 reviews authorisation, scope and whether the target can be tested safely, and then either starts the assessment or cancels the order and refunds it.
2. Full refund
Layer8 refunds the order in full in any of the following cases:
- Layer8 determines the target does not fit the standard scope
- authorisation for the target cannot be verified
- Layer8 determines the assessment cannot be carried out safely
- you cancel the order before testing starts
3. No refund
Once testing has started, orders are not refunded. Testing starts when Layer8 has approved the scope and an engineer has begun the assessment. An assessment that finds no reportable issues is not grounds for a refund.
4. Stopping after testing has started
If you stop the assessment after it has started, Layer8 reports the scope covered and the findings confirmed up to that point, and no refund is issued. Where Layer8 is unable to continue for reasons attributable to Layer8, we agree the outcome with you individually.
5. Retests
The Service includes one retest within 30 days of the report. A retest covers only the findings originally reported. New exploration, additional scope and retests after the 30-day window are separate orders. No refund is issued if you choose not to use the retest.
6. How and when refunds are issued
Refunds are returned using the method you paid with, or another method agreed with you. Layer8 processes the refund within five business days of deciding to issue it. The time until the funds appear depends on your bank and the payment provider.
7. Currency and fees
The Service is invoiced in USD only. Because of exchange rate movements, the refunded amount may not match the amount charged. Fees charged by financial institutions are not refunded.
8. Changes to this document
Layer8 may revise this document. The version that applies is the version in effect when you placed the order.
